Workshop preview: European voices, creating podcasts

Radio is dead, long live the podcast! Few people do still have fixed times, when they switch on the radio and search for the air waves of their favourite program. Listening to podcasts however seems to be a long lasting trend. And even if devices and stiles change, the quality of traditional radio reporting is still necessary to produce an intriguing show.

The aim of our workshop is to share experiences on radio making and to create a podcast, that in the future can be produced as a series for our online magazines. Whether the production will take the form of a classic radio reportage, a discussion or a mix of „vox populi“ reports depends on the creativity and skills of the participants.

We encourage participants who already have some experience in radio journalism or podcast production – for instance in their local community or student radio – to take part in this workshop. Participants without prior experience in this field will be admitted if they have a strong interest and motivation to learn the necessary skills for recording and editing.

The language of the workshop is English. Participants will need to bring their own laptops. The technical equipment for recordings will be provided by us.

The workshop will be led by Anne-Sophie Schmidt (confirmed), freelance journalist at the local Berlin radio station Alex and the student radio station couchfm. She worked previously as a trainer for the university class “literature in radio” at Freie Universität Berlin.

Interested? Then fill in our registration form! Deadline is 28 february 2018. Don’t forget to provide information on your experience in radio journalism.
